Supplier Name: The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey

Supplier Rating: Four Stars

Review : I haven’t picked The Devonshire Arms for my venue but have visited a few times to consider a wedding there. A major plus point is that it is just a couple of minutes drive from the very beautiful church at Bolton Abbey, the photos would be incredible there by the river! However the church doesn’t allow confetti and doesn’t have church bells (two major parts of a traditional church wedding for me!). The hotel itself is a lovely country house hotel with a few different lounges, there are a few large floral arrangements placed around the lounges anyway so you wouldn’t need to fill the venue with flowers. There is a spa on site with pool, sauna, hot tub, steam room & relaxation lounge with magazines, tea, coffee and biscuits for pre-wedding relaxation. The room where you would generally have your reception (unless it is a very small wedding) is a wood paneled room, along one side there are windows to the corridor which connects the bar to the rest of the hotel so you are likely to have some nosy hotel guests peering in.

Plus points:
– close to the beautiful abbey ruins and church
– great village for photos
– the food is always amazing every time I have eaten there
– luxury hotel
– spa on site
– dog friendly with dog walkers arranged by the hotel

Negative points
– to me the function room feels a little corporate, it isn’t hugely historic / unique etc
– hotel guests can peer in through windows to the corridor and watch the proceedings
