A list of wedding venue reviews in the North West

Venue: John Rylands Library, Manchester

Slightly misleading title here… I’m informed John Rylands won’t be taking bookings until 2017 so I can’t ‘review’ a wedding here. However having visited multiple times I can tell you how beautiful it is!

In the words of Carrie Bradshaw : “Think how perfect. You and I and our love story surrounded by all the other lesser love stories.” If you gloss over the fact that Carrie was then jilted (!) it’s actually a very romantic thought. I love atmosphere, and saying your wedding vows where love stories have been stored and read for over a hundred years seems very special to me.

The library itself is considered the finest example of Victorian gothic architecture in Europe, as it was commissioned by Enriquetta Rylands in memory of her late husband. So it is (sort of) Manchester’s version of the Taj Mahal.

With stone staircases, vaulted staircases and of course books it is incredibly romantic and intimate. As a huge Disney fan it reminds me of a real life Beauty and the Beast library. As a history and book lover I was lucky enough to be given a private tour of the underground book stores which house Chinese manuscripts 1,000 years old. The bookcases are filled with books hundreds of years old which are beautiful.

In my (hugely biased) opinion this is the most special venue in Manchester, lucky brides who get to have their wedding here!!
